Baby Bro Paul vs. Baby Buttermilk

Posted by kara

And they’re off! Who will arrive first? Will it be Paul T flying all the way from Ohio? Or Baby Buttermilk dropping in for her first time appearance? That’s right, ladies and gents: Just because today is the due date does not mean that ol’ Buttermilk will win.

Let’s back it up a bit and start from the beginning of the day. (I’m feeling pretty chatty since I have nothing else to do.)

First off, it was another uncomfortable night of sleep/waking up. But that’s okay because I can nap now if I feel tired. I woke up at 7:20 and made some breakfast. Then it was time for some relaxing and DS Brain Age. (Mandy and I both have 26 year old brains today!) I got an unbelievable high score for Virus Buster, but the stupid DS did not record it. :/ Anyway, enough of my morning.

After lunch, I packed our toiletries (just in case) and walked to the bus stop. The guy waiting there asked me how many months pregnant I am. I was pumped that I got to respond, “Today is actually my due date.” The bus took me to Paul’s work and we headed for my doctor appointment.

The doctor update: I gained a whopping 3 pounds since last week (was it that celebratory milk shake I had last night? UB’s delicious lasagna? the M&Ms that Laura gave me? the huge pizza I had for lunch yesterday? the pudding I ate by myself?) and that’s the only change. Soooooo… I proceeded to ask my doctor how long she is going to let me go before induction. She said I can choose 1 week or 2 weeks. I automatically chose the 1 week option. (Maybe I should have asked Paul, but I’ve never been more decisive in my life.) My doctor said that she thought I would go into labor within the next 3 days. It made me realize that I have a very optimistic OB doc. Or maybe just a stubborn baby. Either way, the plan is to have a non-stress test and doctor appointment on the 15th. Then I think I will be added to the induction list.

So it is possible that Paul T (arriving on the morning of the 16th) will get here before the baby. I’m personally rooting for Buttermilk to win, and I’m giving her some fresh pineapple to hopefully give her a bit of a head start.
