What life looks like nowadays

The girls love playing together. They make up stories and both contribute equally to the storyline. They understand each other and never miss a beat. It’s great that they don’t argue over everything! (Knock on wood.)

Toshi is doing well in her new school—I’m so proud of her! She seems to be making friends, especially Keira, Ali and Autumn B, and I think she’s doing well academically. And she got the school nurse to pull out her loose tooth. So yeah, she must be feeling pretty comfortable at her new school. Toshi can now proudly do the monkey bars. She’s also doing soccer with the big kids (grades 1-3) and looks so small out there. She likes to keep her bathroom drawer just so. Once she asked me if we could take a day to organize the whole house so she could relax. Heh. Sure thing—but it will definitely take more than a day! Toshi is still loving hanging out with her cousins, and loves holding her newest cousin Oliver. Aw!

Martha started school and seems to like it. She really likes telling me the songs that she learns. It also sounds like she is playing more with the other kids this year. We worked on writing her name. Those h’s are tricky! Martha is also doing her first tennis lessons. She finally hit one over the net. It was a pretty big deal! She can connect with the ball, but doesn’t swing hard enough yet. I guess it’s pretty hard when the net is as tall as you are! Last week Martha had a inflamed left hip from a leftover cold virus (transient synovitis). She had several x-rays, a blood draw, and lots of examining. She was so sweet at the doctor’s. She let them bend her leg and would try to not cry or make noise. We had to tell her to say when it hurt. When the doctor apologized for making her leg hurt, she said, “That’s okay.” It went away in 4 days with Ibuprofen.

Our family plays a lot of board games. Lately it’s Sorry, Hello Kitty Bingo, Don’t Make Me Laugh, or Thomas the Train Go Fish. It’s nice that they are old enough to play real games. Martha is still learning strategy, so it’s pretty cute.

Life is good at this age.
