Check me out! / Third First Christmas

Okay, so you can’t check me out, but if you could, you’d see that I’m blogging on my brand new, super awesome MacBook Pro 15″ laptop! Paul managed to completely surprise me with this shiny bit of heaven. I kept thinking I needed a new laptop, but I also thought I could stretch out my old one for a few more months. Although, there were those scares when my laptop would randomly turn off or refuse to restart. So yeah! Now I can download from the internet without switching browsers and I can download pictures from our camera in less than half an hour! Happy happy joy joy!
The only thing I just realized was that I don’t have my graphic programs on this computer. Which means that my photo editing is limited to the generic tools in iPhoto. That should be okay enough for now.
Well, I guess I should also report how the rest of our Christmas is going since it is Toshi’s Third First Christmas. It’s going so-so. Our morning looked really promising because Toshi did a wonderful 4-hour and 3-hour sleep span at night. (With a bit of a spit-up episode, but Paul handled that.) Paul made Christmas breakfast: eggs, sausage, and cinnamon rolls. Then he held Toshi while I quietly opened up my gifts and some of hers. She doesn’t like the sound of crinkling/tearing paper, so we opened up gifts very carefully this year.
Can you see how we’d open one end, then slide out the box? Minimal tearing noise. If only Aunt Molly was here to open the gifts for us… then we’d have a very happy Toshi. Anyway, after a while, Toshi fell asleep.
So then Paul opened up his gifts and some of Toshi’s. Toshi received tons of great books and toys from her extended family.
Once little Toshi woke up, we told her what a wonderful Christmas she had.
The rest of the day, Paul has been bouncing Toshi to keep her relaxed. Otherwise, she starts fussing. We also managed two video calls with my parents. They got to see Toshi Anne in action (crying and sleeping).
We started watching Paul’s Planet Earth dvds. It makes me a little sad to see animals eat each other. I was really rooting for the calf to get away from the wolf. Paul told me it was the circle of life. I’m just glad that we have our little Toshi Anne safe in our civilized apartment.
And now I must clean the sink so we can give Toshi a bath before we head to Aunt Karen’s for Christmas dinner! We really miss everyone. It was nice to have our own little family Christmas, but I think we would gladly have enjoyed some company (especially grandparents who like holding their little granddaughter).
Merry Christmas and lots of love to you all.
