Bottle Battle

This weekend flew by. We are still working on getting Toshi to take a bottle. She refused the bottle both Friday and Saturday, and it set us up for a bit of a fussy mood the rest of the day. She didn’t take any kind of substantial nap, which made both days hard. However, I left for part of the day on Saturday, so Paul handled it by himself for a while. Brother Paul and I went to a tea tasting event. It was fun and nice to meet some friendly people, even though I felt like a tea impostor the whole time. I did correctly identify the teas, so maybe I’m onto a new interest. Actually, I don’t think I am, because afterwards I felt jittery and I couldn’t sleep.
Today was a nice day. I decided to give Toshi a break, so we skipped the bottle battle. Then I held her in my lap for a couple of hours and we took a nap. She woke up nice and smiley when UB, Chris, and Colby were here. Those long naps make all the difference! Then we headed out for a walk along the water. Toshi was all bundled up in her car seat stroller, so she didn’t see too much of it. Maybe once it gets warmer, she’ll be able to enjoy the scenery more.
On Friday, I washed Toshi’s hair and I got some good pics of her curly hair. It cracks me up every time. I wonder if her hair will be a bit wavy when she’s older.
Also, I made Paul take a picture of Toshi holding my hand. I managed to get her in the Baby Bjorn and she actually fell asleep in it. She grabbed onto my hand and I loved it, so I had to get proof:
And last, but certainly not least, is her sleeping/feeding schedule. For a while, I was keeping track of her feedings in my head. Then I kept forgetting what time they were and Paul gave me strange looks. So I started writing them down on paper. But then I wanted to see if there was a pattern to her days. So… (drum roll) I made an Excel chart! I thought Jamus would be proud of me. The pink indicates a feeding, the blue indicates sleeping, and the white is awake time. Each day is a column, with the top of the column being 12 am and the bottom of the column being 11:45 pm. Tada!
Speaking of sleeping schedules, I have to add a little anecdote about tonight. I sensed she was tired because she didn’t take a long afternoon nap. So I made an executive decision to put her in bed at 6:50. She started crying after a few minutes, so Paul went in and got her to settle down. He changed her diaper and sang some Pink Floyd to her. After another few minutes, she started screaming. I tried to let her cry for a bit and went in there to let her know that I was around. She didn’t calm down at all, so I picked her up and rocked her a bit. She calmed down and looked sleepy. I gently lowered her in her crib and she was screaming before her head hit the mattress. I left the room, closed the door, and said to Paul, “Hey, she’s down for the night!” I laughed and I think Paul asked if I wanted him to go in there. But then, silence! She went to bed! She must have some crazy accurate internal clock, because she refuses to go to bed before 7:30, and it was 7:30. I am so proud of her (even though it would be nice if she went to bed earlier since she was tired). Yay for Toshiko!
