Daycare trial run
Posted by kara
We’ve completed our daycare trial run. It was harder and more ambiguous than I thought it would be. I’m not sure how I feel about it. Sometimes I think it is a good thing, and sometimes I worry that it is a bad thing. Getting her ready in the morning is sometimes very sad for me. She is all smiles in the morning and I feel guilty because I’m getting her ready for daycare. Then once we are there, it is a little better, but I still try to leave before I start crying. The last couple of times I picked her up, she’s been very peaceful, which is surprising because it’s usually her fussy time. So then I feel like they are doing a good job. I don’t know. It’s still too early for me to tell.
I have Toshi at home on Monday because her daycare has some caretaker classes/workshops or something. It will be good to have one last day with her…. a good contrast to the next day when I start work full time and she’s at daycare a full day. I’m excited to see how I feel once I’m at work. Will it all become clear? Probably not.
Two little things about daycare: 1. At the end of the day, Toshi smells like someone else. I guess it is good because it means that she is being held. Either that, or they have fragrant crib sheets… I should investigate. 2. I actually miss changing her poopy diapers. For the past couple of days, she hasn’t been pooping at her normal times: first thing in the morning and before she goes to bed. Daycare has been seeing her poopy diapers. It makes me sad because I feel like I don’t know my daughter as much when I don’t see what kind of poop she has. And I want to make sure she is pooping enough. It has gotten to the point where I write on her daycare parent communication slip: hoping for a big poop. That way I get some feedback on her poop. No, I’m not a big poop fan, I’m just a new parent! But it’s the weekend now, so I get to find out how her poop is doing.
Other than the daycare schmaycare drama, we now have a 3-month old baby! She turned 3 months on Valentine’s day. I thought she’d have more head control, but it’s a little hard to develop when she always vomits during tummy time. Sometimes when I hold her, she jerks and leans back or to the side and I have to catch her. Luckily I inherited my dad’s catlike reflexes.
Paul seems to be doing well. He went skiing with his work yesterday. Sounds like some terrifying fun. Maybe he’ll write the next post!
Since I don’t have any new pics, I thought I’d post some random old pics. Here are two pics from David and Molly’s wedding. Have a great weekend!
