First Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day! Paul’s first Father’s Day was not as smooth as I had hoped. He started it off around 2 a.m. or so, holding his baby girl until she fell asleep. For the past couple of days, Toshi’s nose is like a goopy faucet. Every time she sneezes, there are two thick lines of snot under her nose. And now that she has a bit of hand coordination, she can rub her nose, and then rub her eyes. Probably not a good thing. Anyway, that means that whenever we put her down to sleep, she starts wailing. There is some fake crying mixed in there, but there is too much real crying to ignore it. When I find her in her crib, she is face down with snot running down her face. Poor thing. So we hold her until she falls asleep and then carefully put her in her car seat. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, she’ll start crying again. That’s why Paul had to hold her a couple of times last night.

This morning, I woke up with Toshi, and Paul slept a little bit. I got a little sidetracked because I had put Toshi in a cute tank dress/tunic that my cousin gave us. (Her head barely fit through!) I took some cute pics of Toshi.

By the time I had Toshi’s bottle ready and was feeding her, Paul woke up. So he made his own Father’s Day pancakes… doh. I gave him the little card I made and later he saw that I made a desktop image for his laptop. It has a few funny pics of Toshi. There was supposed to be another gift, but I ran out of time (maybe it will be a gift later on).

It was a perfect day– blue skies, blue water, and even sun! We went for a nice walk to the Farmer’s Market, and then walked to an overlook of Elliott Bay. It was a really nice walk. Once we were at home, we gave Toshi her bottle and fed her some rice cereal. Then we called our dads.

We found out that there was a “surprise” last minute birthday get together for my uncle. So we drove to the Eastside to get some errands done, and then barely made it to my uncle’s in time. We parked in the back so he wouldn’t see our car. When we got into the house, we found out he was already there and had known about the party anyway. Ah well– there was good food and we got to see Roy, Bruce and Kim again.

When we got home, I fed Toshi her rice cereal, and Paul went ahead and made his Father’s Day dinner of spaghetti. Yup… I still don’t have this ‘run the household’ thing down yet.

Anyway, I hope Toshi starts feeling better. I feel like we are back to the early days. I’ve forgotten those cringing emotions I feel when I hear her crying at night.

I also took this pic– I put her in a super girlie outfit and I love it! It has some cute detailing that you can’t see. I just love how baby girl she looks in it.
