Fun with Aunt Sarah

Posted by kara

Toshiko got to spend time with her Aunt Sarah this weekend. We all had a fantastic time! On Thursday we picked up Aunt Sarah at the airport. She was surprised at how big and heavy Toshi was. Toshi sucked on Aunt Sarah’s arm (actually her jean jacket), and from then on they were best pals. Aunt Sarah had a really calming effect on Toshi. (She thinks it was the head scratching…) We walked down to the locks, checked out Archie McPhee’s, and then had a nice little spaghetti dinner with Paul.

On Friday, Aunt Sarah, Toshi and I went to Pike Place Market. It was fun to walk around and see all the Seattleness. We grabbed a delicious lunch at a mexican restaurant and then dropped off Sarah with her friend Kat. Later that night, we went to Maggie’s Bluff and had dinner outside overlooking the bay.

Since Sarah was leaving Sunday morning, we only had Saturday to finish up all the sightseeing. Paul, Aunt Sarah, Toshi and I set out for the Seattle Center in the morning. We walked through the EMP and all over the center. There was a small Chinese festival going on. We watched some kids drum. It looked like a lot of fun to me… I’m thinking about starting up my own drumline. For some reason, I can totally picture Double A joining my drumline. I think Sarah said she’d join in if we had really fabulous outfits. Anyway, after the Seattle Center, we went to the downtown library. I liked the elevator buttons. I hadn’t noticed that before. I think Sarah really liked the building. By that time, I was dying of hunger. We stopped at Pete’s on our way to Gasworks Park and picked up sandwiches. Then I fed Toshi in the car while Paul and Sarah toured the park. We headed home so Toshi and I could nap. Paul took Sarah to see Golden Gardens, but I guess it wasn’t clear enough to see the mountains. Nuts. Then my little bro came over and prepared an awesome 4 course dinner. We finished out the night with 2 Wire episodes.

This morning, Paul took Sarah to the airport. Luckily we didn’t have to be too sad because we’ll get to see her again in a little over a month. We really had a great time… it’s always fun hanging out with Aunt Sarah!
