Two steps forward, two steps back

Posted by kara

It seems that Toshi is so close to crawling… but she can only do about two steps (scoots?) and then she goes in reverse two steps to sit down. Or she’ll just rock back and forth and then give up and fall on her tummy. Either way, she’s getting stronger and more active. Sometimes I’ll look up and she’ll be peeking over furniture or reaching up a lot higher than I thought she could.

You may also notice that now we have a bumper on the crib. After abiding by all of the crib rules (except for the mobile) for eight months, I finally got a bumper. I think on Monday, I was trying to catch a nap in the morning as Paul was leaving for work. Paul had put Toshi in her crib and I guess she started crying. I thought it was her normal “I-don’t-want-to-sleep-in-my-crib” cry, but Paul called me into the room. When I got there, her chubby thigh was wedged between the bars. It was hard to get her out, but we did and I think she was fine. I looked up bumpers and found one called Breathable Bumpers. It is a soft mesh that can’t support the weight of an infant trying to climb up on the crib. Perfect. (So far.)

Also, today she had that perfect curl right in the middle of her forehead. I thought it was funny and cute.
