Visitors!

This weekend began our month of visitors. Jamus started us off by arriving Thursday night. We had a fantastic laid-back Friday: Toshi-watching in the morning, lunch in Eastlake, ice cream in Fremont, pizza for dinner, and then Jeff/Nick/Sarah arrived with beer to close out the night. It was a very good time– almost like college…except we had to be quiet because there was a baby sleeping in the next room.

Saturday morning happened pretty early for us. With the timing of Toshi’s schedule, we didn’t meet up with them until about 2pm. We did the EMP and Science Fiction Museum. It was okay. (I always think I’ll like the EMP, but I never *really* do. And the SFM was a bunch of book covers of sci-fi novels.) It was going to be time for Toshi to eat, so we left for home, while they went out to Icon Grill. We were going to meet up with them again, but we now go to bed early for our early morning wake up call.

I am so glad we went to bed by 11pm, because Toshi started waking up at 4am. She decided to start her day at 5am, a full hour early. Paul took care of her, while I tried to sleep in longer. I think we switched off around 7am and he tried to sleep. I am pretty sure he woke up when she started crying at her 8am nap. Anyway, enough with that. The visitors checked out of their hotel and came over. They hung out with Toshi in her comfort zone (our apartment) and she warmed up to them.

Toshi especially liked Jeff– I think it was the tummy zerberts.

A close second to Jeff’s zerberts were Sarah’s buttons.

I thought maybe Nick didn’t really want to contend for Toshi’s smiles since he handed her off pretty quickly.

But then he pulled out the big guns and handed Toshi some über fun tissue paper.

Jamus was determined to take Jeff’s place as Toshi’s favorite.

Little did she know that all she had to do was show Toshi her toes.

Anyway, after hanging out for a few minutes, we went to brunch. The food was good enough and we topped it off with cupcakes! It’s nice hanging out with gals. On the walk back, we decided to stop at the locks. The salmon were there too.

Everyone was pretty tired, but we forged on and drove to the aquarium. I put on a brave face and wheeled sleeping Toshi through a couple of the fish rooms. It wasn’t too bad. Then Toshi woke up and decided the stroller was just not for her. So Paul held her through the rest of the rooms and I pushed the empty stroller. At one point, I noticed Jeff taking all these photos of Toshi. He is a pretty good photographer, so I decided in my head that we need to take Jeff on all our vacations so we actually end up with interesting photos. Paul and I will sometimes bring the camera, but never take any pics. We need Jeff there!

By the end of the aquarium trip, Sarah decided she was in the mood for some seafood. However, it was nearing Toshi’s food time, so we said our good-byes and left for home with Jamus.

Toshi went to bed and Paul eventually arrived with our thai food. I was pretty disappointed that my curry set my mouth on fire. To offset my disappointment, Paul ran out and got us milkshakes! What a good husband! We watched some Olympics and went to bed.

This morning Toshi gave Jamus a few “kisses” before we took her to the airport. Now I’m tracking her flight to see that she gets home safely. She is now over South Dakota.

Uh-oh. I think I smell a poopy diaper. Gotta go.
