Water, Evergreens & Rain!

We are back in Seattle. The snowstorm in Ohio/Michigan only delayed the plane a half hour or so. I felt pretty nervous in the morning… I could feel an adrenaline rush and my teeth were chattering. But then once we got all set up (strapping the carseat to the carry-on bag roller thing), I felt ready. Toshi and I made it through security with the help of the TSA peeps. I packed the bags carefully and it paid off. (I just made sure that the diaper bag was stuffed and wouldn’t spill, our jackets were packed away in the carry-on, and the milk/food/liquids/gels were all easy to grab out of my backpack.)

Once we got on the plane, a big guy sat next to us. He pretty much kept to himself the whole ride, but didn’t seem annoyed at all. Then again, he did order 3 Jack Daniels. But the great thing was that he offered to help me deboard the plane. He carried 2 of my bags so I could carry Toshi, my backpack and the car seat. I think he was even going to carry them all the way to baggage claim, but I told him that I just needed to make it to the concourse area to set up my “stroller”.

So, the plane ride really wasn’t too bad. I think I finally got into a confident mindset where I didn’t stress myself out. Toshi screamed and whined a few times, but I knew it wouldn’t last more than a couple of seconds. She was pretty good. I was a bit annoyed that they didn’t have a changing table on the plane (the flight attendant said it was an old plane). So I tried to change her diaper while she stood on the toilet lid. It worked enough. Thank goodness there was no poop!

I am tired, but it all went a lot better than I expected.

Toshi is glad to have her dad back. They have been playing non-stop since we got home. Maybe because I’ve been checking email, blogs, and opening all the Christmas cards!!!

Oh, and when I walked in the door, it immediately felt like the tiniest apartment ever! The kitchen has tiny little counters. Even the fridge seems small. And Paul pointed out that our living room feels about the same size as my parent’s master bathroom. This must be how my parents feel when they come to stay with us. Anyway, I am momentarily inspired to clean out this cluttered filled apartment. I hope it lasts long enough to be fulfilled.

Pics coming later! Thanks for all of your well-wishes!
