Sweet birthday

Posted by kara

This was officially the sweetest birthday to date.

Friday morning, Toshi and I went to Target and bought some cake makin’s (along with the usual diapers and such). After her nap, we baked a chocolate cake from scratch. There was a little improvising because of a spilling incident, but the cake turned out delicious. My mom also sent delicious cookies. And then after work, Mandy stopped by with the best ice cream and cupcakes (and tiara) around town. What a sweetie – it totally made me feel special (and glad I wasn’t still wearing my pajamas).

Then my bro brought over my favorite pizza and we puzzled the night away! Oh wait… first Toshi and the Pauls decorated the cake. Toshi dictated to Uncle Paul what he should draw on the cake. Then daddy filled up the sprinkle cap with sprinkles so she could put them on the cake. And of course, there were candles. Toshi blew out one of them before we even sang. So we relit it and then had the birthday song, and then she blew out her candle and I blew out mine.

On Saturday, Paul and I went out to McCormick and Schmick’s. I think the waitress was slightly odd. She knew it was my birthday and guessed I was 21. I told her I was 30 and then she said she would have carded me. I think she just wanted to card me, but we didn’t order drinks anyway. It was a delicious buttery meal, topped off by a free chocolate cupcake. I hope I’m not giving this baby a chocolate allergy by eating so much chocolate. After that, we couldn’t figure out what we wanted to do. No movies sounded appealing, so we walked around the mall until we decided to go to Blockbuster to rent a movie. We watched 500 days of Summer. It was cute.

And now I’m getting nervous as we are approaching 3 months til baby #2. Gotta clean and make room!
