End of an era

Posted by kara

On Sunday, Paul sold the kayaks. It made both of us sad, but we haven’t used them in three years. We reminisced about the house boat and open evenings and weekends when we could kayak off our deck into Lake Union. It was so relaxing.

What else do I miss?
– I was a big fan of waking up, eating breakfast, and then going back to sleep
– Throwing on a coat, grabbing a (small) purse, and walking out the door
– Eating at nice places, going out for a spontaneous lunch
– Watching TV at a normal volume
– Feeling like I got a good night’s sleep
– Wearing sweaters and shoes with heels
– Typing, cooking, eating, and doing laundry with both hands
– Getting in and out of a car in less than 5 minutes
– Having normal songs stuck in my head

But as all parents say, it’s worth it.

I’d rather have the hugs, laughs, cute faces, adorable artwork, and love of my two girls than the relaxing DINK lifestyle. Seriously… I get to look at and kiss these faces all day!
