Yeah, much quicker

I was talking to Ariana, and she made me realize that times goes much quicker with the second baby. With Toshi, the first few weeks lasted forever. It took forever for her to be 6 weeks. Then another long time for her to be 3 months. Then finally she was 6 months. After that, time started picking up speed. And it hasn’t slowed down!

I just realized that Martha is really just about 6 months old. My baby days are numbered! She’s no longer that cuddly baby slug that is content as long as she’s held. She’s a grabby, laughy, arm-flapping, leg-kicking, squealing baby. I can’t believe it. Soon she’ll be rolling (maybe… the video says otherwise), and then crawling. But really, 6 months?! I tried to relish every zen moment. And I know I did, but it still flew away from me. And worse of all, I don’t have many photos or video to prove it. We were too busy living in the moment or chasing Toshi or trying to function on broken sleep. I hope Martha knows that her babyhood was so very precious even though I didn’t document every outfit with millions of pics. Her babyhood was beautiful in the contrast to Toshi’s toddler/kid stage. (Toshi’s toddler/kid stage was a good foil to Martha’s babyhood.) I took refuge in her innocence as Toshi stirred up trouble. I was saved by Toshi’s company as Martha cried about who knows what. It has been a lesson-filled 6 months. Thank you, girls.

Toshi drew this. (Paul drew the clouds and sun.) She said there is a dad, mom, two daughters (one is holding a balloon with a smiley face), and a baby floating away with a balloon. And of course, a rainbow!
