Egg hunts galore

Posted by kara

Last year, Toshi loved egg hunts. This year is the same. She has been practicing her egg hunts for the past few weeks. Yesterday I brought out the plastic eggs, stepped on a hidden egg and immediately remembered why I put them away during the year. Anyway, we went to the zoo egg hunt, which wasn’t really a “hunt” since all the eggs were in plain sight. Paul said he timed it and it lasted 4 minutes until every egg was picked up. Our egg hunt this morning also was quite speedy. I think the bunny will have to hide them harder next year. And now we are off to a neighborhood hunt. After that, we’ll go to my aunt’s house for another egg hunt. Toshi is in egg hunt heaven. I think it will be a successful Easter.

Off topic: I find that there are a lot of little things that make up parenting. Sometimes the things go unnoticed, but sometimes I catch them and I know that they are probably only interesting to me. Today I was sitting with Martha in the living room, and Toshi ran off to find her Meow Mix. She ran into her room and I saw her light go on right away. That’s when I realized she could easily turn on her light switch. For a while, she couldn’t quite do it when we held her up to the light switch. Then she couldn’t quite reach it, so she would need her stool. And now, she just flips it on. It gave me a little satisfaction that she is getting more independent. I searched around my head to see if I felt any sadness, but I didn’t. I’m sure I will when she is so independent that she doesn’t need me anymore. For now, it’s just one less thing I need to do for her.
