Be Careful What You Laugh At

You’d think I’d have this down by now. I’ve learned this lesson a million times already. Martha, in particular, loves to see my reaction to her actions. When she does something naughty, she looks at me with a big smile on her face. If I make any face less than Very Disapproving, she will think it’s our inside joke and smirk. Sometimes she still smirks after I firmly tell her No.

Anyway, I’ve been working on her saying, “I love you.” She kept saying, “I love I.” Which actually meant, “I love drawing.” (I = drawing) Finally, she said, “I love you.” That was so cool! But then she started learning color words. And her “love you” was starting to sound like “yellow.” One time, it was quite clear to me she was saying, “I yellow.” I asked her with a little bit of a smile on my face, “Are you saying, ‘I yellow?'” She nodded and had a HUGE smile on her face. So I laughed a little, thinking it was a little funny/clever in her own little Marfy way. So now, she will only say, “I yellow.” Nuts! I can only imagine what people think I’m teaching her…

While I’m dishing out advice, I’ll add one more thing I learned yesterday: Do not let me near cookies that have a bread/cake-like texture. I ate 6 banana chocolate chip cookies yesterday. (I hope Paul doesn’t read this post.) And already have eaten 2 this morning. There are 4 left and Paul will be suspicious if there aren’t any when he comes home tonight.

My mom sees Penny tomorrow. Maybe I’ll have some pictures to post soon! Happy birth, Penny! And happy birthday to Aunt Karen!

Photobooth fun: apparently I look terrifying when I’m symmetrical!
