Elmo milk

I was at Target, looking for special Dr. Brown’s sippy cups. I had read that they make sippy cups that show kids how to sip, rather than suck. (I don’t know how else to phrase it.) I figured that I could get one and it would be different enough from Toshi’s current sippy cups, that she wouldn’t associate it with having water in it. Therefore, she’d associate these new Dr. Brown’s sippy cups with having ice cold milk in them. As you can see, I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting Toshi to drink milk from her sippy cup. She just looks disgusted whenever I do it and refuses to drink anything.

Anyway, Target didn’t have them. But they had something much better. A cheap Elmo sippy cup! It doesn’t have handles, so it’s a little more “grown-up” than her other sippy cups. In the store, I told Toshi that she was going to have nice cold Elmo milk now. She seemed excited about it… or at least about the cup.

So after a nice trip to the park, we came back and I told her it was time for Elmo milk and books and a nap. I poured cold milk into the cup and she carried it to her room. She drank 2 ounces of very cold milk! I kept saying to her, “Mmmm. Elmo milk is so delicious. I love Elmo milk. Nothing better than Elmo milk!” I probably overdid it. But still, I consider 2 ounces quite a positive result. I hope this works.
