The wheels on the bus
Posted by kara
Sometimes I sing to distract Toshi. The current flavor of the month is The Wheels on the Bus. This song, like all great kid songs, is very adaptable. I have a lot of animals and relatives riding the bus, making all kinds of noises. And whenever I finish singing, Toshi gladly says, “Encore! Encore!” It’s the only time anyone ever asks me to keep singing.
Anyway, today she joined in on the motions that go with The Wheels on the Bus, AND she tried to sing along at some parts. She tried to do the “Wah wah wah” of the baby, but instead of saying “Wah wah wah” three times, she said “Ba-by *pause*” three times. And she did the shushing of the parents. She also tried to sometimes say “all through the town” which was pretty ambitious. It was so exciting to have her take that next step of singing along to the beat and doing the motions all together. Unfortunately, her performance (or maybe it was her interest) declined throughout the day. So my video is not as stellar as the first time around, but you’ll get the idea.
Earlier today, Toshi started to aggressively “shoot” hoops. I kept hearing the buzzer go off. [It goes off when 10 hoops have been made.] After a while, I decided to try to catch it on video. It struck me as funny that this would keep her entertained for so long. She was very focused. I tried to narrate quietly, but I guess I just sound silly.
And here is some older video of her painting on her new Aquadoodle mat. I love this mat. I think I like playing with it more than she does. You fill her little pen with water and it marks the mat until it dries. I like to draw objects and have her guess what they are. Our little Pollock made really cool splatters, but I guess she didn’t want to recreate them.
