Uncle PJ

My brother Paul stayed with us for a bit and left yesterday. While he was here, he made really great food (his cooking talents are far beyond what I thought– you should see his iPod food pics), AND he got a job in Seattle! He’ll be driving out with his pal Laura (cousin to Greg Gels) sometime in December. Toshi is so excited to have her Uncle PJ move to town. Turns out he is good at keeping her calm.

In the meantime, we are just hanging out… dreading the day when Paul has to go back to work. Or maybe it’s just me dreading it! At least I’ll have Grandma and Grandpa Mealy here to help for a few days.

Baby vacation isn’t what I thought it would be. I thought that I’d at least be able to maintain the household, get some organizing done, do small projects… Nope. Yesterday I spent about 3 hours on the couch napping with Toshi and trying to figure out how to get up from the couch without waking her up. I couldn’t figure out the latter, so I just laid on the couch, making a mental note to always grab a book, food, and cell phone before I commit to a position with a sleeping baby.

I must admit that it is driving me a bit crazy that I can’t seem to do anything productive. I have to keep reminding myself caring for Toshi is the most productive and important thing I can be doing. I’ll be productive later… once Toshi is a little older. Or is that just wishful thinking?
