Our 5 year anniversary is coming up! Hard to believe it’s been 5 years, but I guess a lot has happened…

To celebrate, Paul and I took a trip to Bellingham. We stayed in the historic Fairhaven district [nice view of the bay (and the warehouse roofs)] and shopped around there. The only bad thing was that our room smelled like an old man. I wonder if all the rooms smelled like that.

Then we ate dinner in downtown Bellingham and I insisted on ice cream at Mallard even though it was freezing! I couldn’t make up my mind (surprise!), so I asked the girl what the most popular ice cream was. She rattled off some name and all I heard was coconut. I am not crazy about coconut, but I felt funny not ordering what I asked about. So I said I’d have that flavor. Then I found the coconut flavor on the menu – it was some kind of coconut, walnut (maybe), and chocolate chunk. When I tried it, it was delicious! Totally made me think of my buddy Laura (she likes coconut). And there was this really cute toddler (maybe 18 months?) walking around with a melty ice cream cone, looking so happy and relaxed.

On our way back, we took the Chuckanut Drive, which goes along the coast for a little bit. We stopped at Larrabee State Park.

Then we saw this sign.

I asked Paul if he thought I was taller than it. He thought yes, for sure.

Yeah, it’s rocks. But I thought it could fool someone into thinking it was wood, but Paul said he’d definitely know it was rocks if he saw a picture of it.

On the way to Aunt Karen’s, we stopped at Kohl’s (didn’t find anything) and ate lunch at McDonald’s. I finally got to try a mini meal and thought it wasn’t so mini! It actually disgusted me a little because it was a double cheeseburger. At least I got to put one of my McDreams to rest.

Anyway, it was great to see Toshi. We missed her. She had lots of fun with Auntie Karen, Uncle Dave, Katie, Kristen, and Uncle Paul. She didn’t want to leave!

When we got home, we gave her a present that I thought she would really like: a little rolling pin! She even tried to roll her belly (to flatten it?).
