King Mommy

Posted by kara

Toshi has been getting more and more interested in princess stories. I’d like to blame Ariana’s coloring book gift (just kidding!) but I have no idea how she became interested in princesses. The first time I heard her talk about it was when she wanted to play a game on the couch. She hid behind the couch cushions (like she always does) and said she was Princess Toshi and I was the witch. Heh. So I kept knocking on her castle door until I lured her out with promises of gifts, which turned out to be tickles and kisses.

Anyway, she kept calling herself a princess and then I realized that Paul has been telling her stories about Princess Toshi. I listened to some of these stories and they are actually pretty good. One was about how people were afraid of bears but brave Princess Toshi allowed the sleepy bears to sleep in her bed (she loves her stuffed bears) and how then people weren’t afraid of the bears anymore. Or something like that.

Paul cleverly mixed her love of royalty with her love of big-kid-skinny crayons. He suggested she make Mommy a crown (or a “king hat” as Toshi calls it). So yesterday we became King Mommy, King Daddy, and Princess Toshi.
