Third Ultrasound
Posted by kara
Yesterday we had our third ultrasound. They followed up on the two things they were concerned about, and decided that they weren’t concerned anymore. Thank goodness, because these ultrasounds are getting more uncomfortable as the baby gets bigger and more punchy. She was really wiggling and kicking, which I like to think of her as fighting back at the pokes.
Anyway, she measured in the 80th percentile for weight. I tend to believe that they overestimate weight, so I’m hoping she really won’t be in the 80th percentile. They think she weights about 4lbs, 10oz. So if the baby grows .5 lbs a week, that means she’d be about 9lbs. I’m sure she’ll be a 7lb-er. Oh, and my favorite part of the ultrasound was when the technician pointed out the hair on her head. Hah! Another hairy one.
She said that the baby was sticking out her tongue in this pic. The technician could tell me anything and I wouldn’t know any better!
After the ultrasound, Paul went back to work and I went to my doctor appointment. My doctor said that since the baby grew, they don’t think the umbilical cord connected at the edge of the placenta is going to cause any problems. They did find more fluid in the left kidney, but my doc said that usually it’s expelled during the birth. (I think.) So they’ll just follow up with an ultrasound on the baby when she’s 2 weeks old.
This week I weighed the same as I did 2 weeks before… but I feel heavier because it’s getting so uncomfortable and harder for me to walk around. And now begins the part when I start looking forward to dropping this baby ball in July. I just hope I remember how to birth a baby…
