Thanks for offerin’

Toshi: What do you have, Mommy?
Me: Uncle Paul’s spaghetti. Do you want some?
Toshi: No, but thanks for offerin’.

Me (while driving to the store): Toshi, school starts tomorrow. Will you wear underpants today so you can go to school in underpants tomorrow?
Toshi: Sure.

Me (at home): Okay, let’s put on underpants!
Toshi: NOOOOOOOOOO! I don’t wanna go to school!

Toshi (at bedtime): I want to wear underpants!
Daddy: You need to wear underpants during the day first before you get to wear them at night.
Me (in my head): Thanks for offerin’…

Seems like Toshi only offers to wear underpants when she knows she won’t actually have to wear them. She offers to wear them right before bed, or when we are far from the house. Great. So I called the preschool and told them that Toshi wasn’t potty trained. They said to send her in anyway to see if she’ll use the potty for them. We shall see. I look forward to when this is all resolved. It would be great to get Toshi in school and using the potty. You should see me try to change her diaper when I’ve got Martha strapped to me…

I also realized I’m not quite prepared to send Toshi to school. I forgot to get lunch food for her. And since I don’t have containers she can open, I can’t send noodles or soup. I really hope no one has a peanut allergy. PB&J is a staple! Plus I don’t have a real thermos for her. Just a sippy cup. But I do have a lunch bag! (Thanks to Mandy.) Maybe I can get Mandy to fill up the lunch bag too… JUST KIDDING! (Mandy has already gone overboard with making dinners for us. MMMMMM. Yes, MMMMMM with capital M’s.) I’ll definitely get to the store before Tuesday (if they say she can come back on Tuesday), so tomorrow will be an interesting lunch of cheese, bread, fruit, and crackers or something. Oh wait, maybe I’ll do a tuna fish sandwich. Yeah, that’ll work.

Okay, nothing like thinking while typing… You would think I’d be more coherent now since: (drum roll) Martha is sleeping more at night! Yessir! Three nights in a row (knock on wood) she has been sleeping from around 10 to 3ish, and then to about 6:30ish. So I get at least 4 hours of straight up sleep! It feels fantastic. Although it just makes me want more. I told Paul I’m a sleep addict.

And she’s totally smiling a ton. She loves when you talk to her in a high-pitched voice. Toshi likes to do the voice too. She sometimes sounds a bit manic, but it still makes Martha smile.

And Toshi just woke up. Bye!

Big Martha!

Big Martha!
