One for trying, one for going
Posted by kara
Toshi gets 2 M&Ms when she goes potty. One for trying, and one for going. If she tries, she just gets one. And usually, she will only go when I mention trying for a “color” (M&M).
Once we backed off trying to encourage her to go to the potty (like the internet told me to), she started really not liking pooping in her diaper. She’d get really anxious about it, but refuse to go on the potty. She’d ask me to change her diaper right away, though, which was a step in the right direction. Then one day, she pooped in the potty! (She had been peeing in the potty occasionally already.) I felt so freaking happy and proud of her. I think I wanted to call the grandmas with the good news more than she did. She is about 70/30 with going in the potty/pull-up. If she poops, she gets a piece of Halloween candy, which we all know is better than 2 M&Ms. I hope she keeps this up and gets better and better! We’ve still had accidents, but at least she’s moving in the right direction!
And my sweet girl tells me that she’s proud of me, too, for going poo poo and pee pee in the potty. Heh.
