Good eatin’

Posted by kara

We’ve been thinking about doing a CSA share for a few years now. However, the price always kept us away. Groupon tempted me, though, and offered a box of organic produce for half price. I could cancel the subscription, but I think I’m going to see how this plays out. Today I picked up our first box of produce, and opening it felt like Christmas. I felt healthier just looking at the beautiful leafy veggies and bright oranges. We were supposed to get mangoes (my new temporary favorite fruit), but they needed to make a last minute switch to Cara Cara oranges (which are delicious — I just ate one).

Anyway, I did learn a few things about myself.
1. I don’t know how to store half this stuff. Luckily they have storage tips on their website.
2. I’ve never run out of room in our fridge vegetable drawer… until now.
3. I’m way too excited about produce. Is this a 30s thing?

But, of course, I’m still Kara. So I made cut-out cookies with REAL butter and white flour AND topped them with sugary pink icing. Actually I had my sous chef do the decorating.

So now time to test out some new recipes with these fresh ingredients. I wish I could spend all day experimenting in the kitchen… but alas, Marf doesn’t like watching me cook.
