Our baby genius

I don’t want to jump the gun, but our little Toshi Anne is a baby genius. She has figured out how to scratch her head and it is the cutest thing. Picture her short little baby arm stretched up and barely reaching the top of her head. Then she opens and closes her chubby little hand while moving her arm forward. Sometimes it looks like she is going to pull out her hair. It is so cute and funny. Unfortunately, she’s scratching her head because she has a pretty bad case of cradle cap… but the doctor said there is no medical treatment.

She is also a genius because she can still sense when I put her down in her crib during the day. Within 10 minutes, she will wake herself up and start crying. So I will generally hold her all day. Especially for the morning nap. I feel like the morning nap will set the tone for the rest of the day. I will hold her for three hours and then put her in her crib. How long are naps supposed to last? Seems like whenever she sleeps for at least three hours in the morning, the rest of the day is generally good. I hesitate to write that though, because it seems like whenever I write something like that, then Toshi will switch it up the next day. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas about how to get Toshi to sleep in her crib in the daytime, please post them! I’m getting desperate since daycare is starting in 3 weeks.

What else has Toshi been up to? She has been getting dangerously close to rolling over. We catch her on her side all the time. And I find her all turned around in her crib. I wonder if she can totally roll from her back to her front but won’t because she hates being on her tummy. Every time we put her on her tummy, she will either barf or drool, and then rub her face in it. (Hey, she may be a genius, but she is still a baby.) I guess tummy time is another thing we have to work on.
