Tomorrow Toshi and I leave for Vegas. It is my Grandma Toshi’s 90th birthday, so my parents and grandma are flying out to Vegas to meet up with my grandma’s brother and sisters. I can’t wait for Toshi Anne to meet her Great Grandma Toshi so she can see who she is named after. Plus she’ll get to meet a lot of California relatives. I think that the 2.5 hour flight will be doable. I hope I’m right… Luckily my mom’s cousin Frankie will be flying with me. He is a very brave soul. More on that trip when we return.

I am happy to report good news! Toshi took a bottle today! At first I did the same old tricks and she just got upset. Then I tried something new. You see, the problem is that she always pushes her tongue out and can’t get a good suction on the bottle. So to deter her, I put my finger wherever her tongue poked out. That kind of worked sometimes, so I went a step further and used my finger to plug up the spot she kept poking her tongue out. That allowed her to get a good suction. MAGIC! Baby magic! At one point, she coughed and released the bottle. I tried it again and it worked! Then she coughed again and got right back on the bottle without my help. I was soooo freaking proud of her. I kept telling her how proud I was and what a good girl she was. I hope this trick continues to work until she gets it naturally. Keep your fingers crossed. Bottle = Mommy freedom!
