Back to it

This weekend has been pretty good so far. On Friday we did our normal pizza and movie night. I thought that we should be daring, so we ordered a pan pizza instead of the normal pizza. I was immediately disappointed with the spicy sauce (I like the sweet sauce) and the overpowering bread ratio. That’s the last time I veer away from my established favorites! The movie Paul picked was called In the Valley of Elah. It was pretty interesting… a good reminder of how hard and complex it is to be in the army. I kept thinking about it today, which is a good indicator that it was pretty decent.

So, I finally decided that it was time to take care of myself again. This morning, I went on a jog– the first time I’ve done cardio in about 8 or 10 months. (Although I did get my heart racing from a flight of stairs when I was preggers.) Anyway, the jog was okay. About 2 minutes into it, I remembered how much I dislike jogging. And then 15 minutes later I remembered that it felt good. And then another couple of minutes and I decided I had done enough. Now my legs are tired. I kept thinking I was going to fall down when I held Toshi today. In addition to my morning jog, I went and got my hair cut! I haven’t had a haircut since my brother’s wedding. I walked to the Aveda salon near my house which is much more convenient than driving to the Aveda school. And it wasn’t too too expensive since I had a newbie. It went well and I was pleased with the experience.

When I got back, it was Paul’s turn. So he went to the gym. When he got back, we started to get ready for a nice little outing. An hour later, we were driving to the public Japanese garden. It was a beautiful day– warm and sunny. Toshi slept through most of the garden. Eventually the loose rock pathway woke her up. Her stroller could use some shocks to absorb the bumps. All in all, we were a little disappointed with the garden. It was a nice place, but it didn’t seem too Japanese. It definitely made the Portland Japanese garden seem a lot better. But we’ve been meaning to go to this park for awhile, so I’m glad we got to go.

In other Toshiko news… she is doing a pretty good job with tummy time. I think she still struggles because of her congestion. But she can definitely get her head up.

I think she looks older and different when she is in this new position. She also was kicking her legs a bit. Maybe soon she’ll be scooting around a little.

But then again, her head is quite heavy.

Happy Easter!
