Ultrasound
Posted by kara
Today we left early in the morning for our 7:30 ultrasound appointment. I had a brilliant idea of going down I-5, thinking we could take the express lanes. Turns out I didn’t think that through because I don’t know where to get on the express lanes. So we ended up being 15 mins late, but still got to have the ultrasound.
I was really excited about this ultrasound because I figured that we would see her all developed and baby-like. Once the ultrasound started, I quickly discovered that I couldn’t tell what the heck was going on. It seemed even fuzzier and harder to read than our ultrasound at 18 weeks. I really had no clue what we were looking at. The technician did a ton of measurements, confirmed that she’s still a girl, and showed us her hairy head. Then the radiologist came in and said that the baby is a healthy 6 lbs, 7 oz. I had two simultaneous reactions: “Yay!” and “Whoa!” Seemed pretty heavy to me, since I have 3.5 weeks until my due date and babies gain about .5 lb per week…. Maybe it’s no coincidence that all of her nicknames are food-related. Or it could be the fact that I’m eating a ton [just polished off some pumpkin pie]. Ah well… as long as she’s growing and healthy!
Tomorrow we have my work’s baby shower. Paul is going to attend… poor guy, he’s been to all of my baby showers. What a devoted husband and father!
