Big Stuff

Toshi Anne is now 6 months old, and over 16 lbs. She is a big girl! She loves using her hands, sucking on her toes, and screaming in a very high-pitched voice.

She looks very pretty in a light cyan-blue. This photo is a bit washed out, so you can’t really see how good she looks in it. You’ll have to trust me on this or stop by and see for yourself.

She also is super splashy during bath time.

I’ve also decided to switch jobs. I wanted something a little more challenging… something where you have to be extremely creative all the time. A job that involves teaching and learning. Plus, I couldn’t pass up the pay. So I quit my job and will soon be a SAHM (stay at home mom).

It was a very personal decision, but it felt like everything was pointing toward me staying at home. Being a working mom made me realize just how limited the number of hours are in a day. If I spend some of those hours at work, it means that I’m not spending time with Toshi. And if I use those hours to take care of Toshi, it means that I’m not working. Then at the end of the day, I come home, and try to use my time to take care of the household, prepare for the next day, put Toshi to bed. If there is time left over, I hang out with Paul or write a blog. I am exhausted all the time. I am so tired that I feel like I don’t have enough energy (let alone time) to be a good mom, wife, employee, or Kara. I am just getting by. And that is not my style. It completely stresses me out to feel like I’m not reaching my full potential. I need to do my best at everything I do. So, I talked with my bosses and put in my two weeks notice. They were so understanding and supportive. I’m going to miss working at the office, but I’m also excited about this life change.

Once I’m done working, my first order of business will be to have fun with Toshi and my sister-in-law Sarah. I am looking forward to that visit! Then my next order of business will be to get our lives back in order… After that, who knows what will happen?
