And she’s off!

We now have a crawling baby. She isn’t super fast yet, but she’s fast enough to find trouble in our tiny apartment within 10 seconds. I’m guessing she’ll be doing the fast crawling by the end of the week. Sometimes I wonder why we encouraged her so much to learn to crawl. This only means trouble for us. Paul has already moved quite a few things into our bedroom of terrors. And I imagine that there will be more added to that collection very soon.

This weekend was very nice. Friday night was pizza with the Pauls. We watched Mad Men and laughed at how much times have changed. Thank goodness I didn’t have to work back in the 50s/60s… I don’t think I could have put up with all of the harassment (and cigarette smoke)!

Then on Saturday we checked out the Seafood Festival. It was nice, but I had Toshi in the Bjorn and boy did my back/legs hurt afterwards. [Sidenote: we weighed Toshi on our WiiFit and I think she weighs at least 19lbs!] When we went back in the evening for dinner, we put her in the umbrella stroller. The food was disappointing, but probably as good as it could be for festival food. I had crab cakes, Paul T had corn and bbq sandwich, and Paul had some seafood wrap. Everyone agreed that my crab cakes were the best, but I just wished they were from Dahlia Lounge. We also tried a strawberry cupcake, which I thought had the flavoring of a strawberry milkshake. It was pretty rich/sweet, even for Paul T!

Sunday was laid back. Paul T came over for delicious lasagna and some bad cheap wine. The highlight was my triumph in a very challenging Scrabble game. Well, challenging for me. Afterwards we looked up words that we were too unsure to challenge on the online Scrabble dictionary. Good thing I didn’t try to argue that “dovey” was a word. Heh. And it turns out Paul pulled the wool over our eyes with the words “Uzi” and “quo”. Either way, I won, so it was a very good time.

Wow, I still remember when AK learned to crawl…what a difference. How cute!

Next time you need help with scrabble, I’m the definitive judge…at least in my own mind…just ask cb. Uzi..its a word…so is nonuzi and subuzi, if you took an uzi from someone, you have a deuzi situation.

Maybe I play scrabble more like UB than I thought.

I can’t believe they don’t count uzi as a word, but they count qanats. I guarantee english language usage of those two words is weighted heavily in favor of uzi. In fact, I challenge you to find a single person that could tell you what qanats means.

Congrats to Toshi! Personally, I follow the philosophy of leaving those “tempting” things out. Liam used to touch everything, but now we have taught him that some things are just for adults by simply saying, “no touch”. He actually just ignores those things now and knows they are off limits – except for Stella’s rear, which he discovered today. I’m sure she’ll teach him that is her territory when he attempts it again. YIKES! Actually, he still attempts to touch some things, but then flashes us a cute smile (which Toshi will do soon) and proceeds ahead.

I miss Scrabble. Pete’s vocabulary isn’t broad enough for us to indulge in a game. We tried once and had too many three letter words. Just kidding.

i definitely adopted the ‘no touch’ slogan after reading your blog! we still have to put away a bunch of stuff though. as you can imagine (remember my room in high school?), i had too much stuff laying around. stuff like plastic bags, a pile of photos, my nice roll of delicate rice paper, a stack of loose cds on the ground… etc. so now we are trying to get to the stage of clean that is normal for most people.
