I was going to write about how I’ve toughed out two days without internet, but today really isn’t a day to complain.
Every September 11th, I try to keep the victims and their families in my thoughts. I think about how my grandpa didn’t see September 11th, which means he has been gone for 7 years. I also try to remember the events of that weekend and week… as if remembering everything that I can will somehow honor the weight of people’s loss.
One feeling I remember is how much I wanted to be at home. Jamie, Paul and I left for Ohio the next morning. When Paul and I got to my parents’ house, it felt so wonderful. The suburb of manicured lawns and bright US flags at every door gave me so much relief. I felt like I could breathe again.
Ah well… more light Toshi stuff on its way.
