Happy birthday!
Posted by kara
Today is my father-in-law’s birthday.
A few years ago, we celebrated his birthday at Hueston Woods and we made him king for the day. It was a fun time, and we wish we could be there again this year to celebrate. One of the best things about Dad M is that he makes it very clear how much he loves his family and how he’d do anything to help. I hope he knows that Paul and I feel the same way and that we love him very much.
Also, this weekend we received some incredibly exciting news. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say what it is, but I am so excited and happy. I keep thinking about it and it’s like automatic happiness.
Here is the latest belly pic. I’m thinking it is the last belly pic because this baby has GOT to come out soon, right?
The rest of this weekend was pretty good. Paul made dinner on Friday, while I did my normal Friday night routine: lay down in bed playing DS until my back pain eased up. After dinner I went back to laying down until the Halloween cookies (that Paul “rescued” from the store) were done baking. Then I ate about 4 of those (they are those tiny Pillsbury ones!) until I felt sick.
Saturday we hung out… I have no idea what I did. Oh, I talked to Gretchen and kind of to Elsa. They came up with many creative names for the baby. I shared the names with Paul and he didn’t seem to really go for any of them. For dinner I made chicken squares even though I suspect that Paul doesn’t actually like them. Maybe I can make up a recipe that uses less cream cheese and more milk? I also made pudding to satisfy my chocolate craving. I figured that since it’s advertised as “Calci-Yum!” it’s somewhat good for me… Anyway, the movie of the night was Junebug. I liked it enough. Paul thought it was boring. <SPOILER> I am not sure it is the best choice for a preggie to watch, because the pregnant girl goes into labor and the baby dies. It was a good reminder, though, that while I am not wild about all the discomfort of pregnancy and pain of birth, it is nothing compared to the miracle of a baby. </SPOILER> Then we watched the Untouchables. It was a good solid movie.
This morning we enjoyed the extra hour. I felt like a champ for waking up at 7:30 on a Sunday! [I know I know… just wait until we have a baby.] We met up with the fam for brunch, ate way too much, then stopped at UB’s because he had made us a HUGE, HEAVY lasagna. We’ll be eating that forever.
And now I can cross off “blog” on my to do list, and go back to bed.
