Sunny days

This morning was full of excitement. MLK Jr. Day, Paul’s first day downtown, and sun! I couldn’t wait to get Toshi outside. After running to the grocery store, we went on a walk. I always laughed at the parents that had their kids on leashes, but now I see why. The sidewalks here seem very close to the roads. Toshi just zips around and she can be on the street in a matter of a couple of seconds. Anyway, I don’t have a leash for her and I’m sure I won’t get one… but now I have a little more appreciation for the kid leashes.
Today is so beautiful. It’s one of those winter days that makes you break out in spring fever. The sun (and maybe the oven) warmed up our apartment so much that I had to crack open the sliding door. [Side note: I made a homemade chocolate cake to test. I’ve only had a little bit. It’s good, but not as good as Savy’s mom’s chocolate cake…Savy, if it’s not a family secret recipe, I fully expect you to email it to me!] Today I got Toshi to lie on the floor with me. She was contently playing with her new musical snail and resting her head on my stomach. It was the best part of the day so far. There is nothing like lying around with your little girl while the sun lights up the room and fresh air blows in. What a good day; I am so darn lucky (thank you Paul). And then of course she stood up, turned to me, lifted up my shirt and gave me a zerbert. I swear she is a bit of a rascal. A little bit more Paul than Kara.
Oh, and today she also enjoyed wearing her sunglasses. She wore them around in the grocery store. I got the cashier to agree that Toshi looked cool.
Here are some old pics. Toshi has been doing this a lot lately.
