Date Night

Posted by kara

Maybe I should call it “Date Evening” because I insisted that we be back before 6:00pm. Anyway, Aunt Karen and Uncle Dave kindly offered to babysit Toshi so Paul and I could go on a date. I thought that it would be best to not mess with her sleep schedule, so we went to an early 2:15 showing of Juno and then to an early 5:00 dinner. (With a little bit of shopping in the middle.)

I fed Toshi at Aunt Karen’s house and little Toshi immediately pooped herself silly. We had to change her whole outfit, which was a bummer because I picked out a super cool onesie (made by Auntie Ariana) and a pretty outfit Grandma Kathy bought. (Notice the ruffles over the toes!)

Luckily we had a second back up outfit in case she pooped the first back up outfit. Which she didn’t. So Paul and I headed to the movie and it was probably the first time that I felt a little anxious leaving Toshi. I was worried that she would cry the whole time. Anyway, we got to the movie just in time and we both felt that the sound was blaring. I think our eardrums have become very sensitive to noises that wake up sleeping babies. The movie was pretty cute and fun to watch. I think that having and taking care of a baby has made me soft (literally–ha!…nuts) and I almost teared up in the theater. It was a good date movie. Afterwards, we had a nice Japanese dinner. It was nice to eat at the same time and not be completely rushed. And I think we didn’t talk about Toshi the whole time… just part of the time…

When we got back to AK and UD’s house, they said that she was pretty good. Phew and Yay!!! But she was refusing her bottle. So then Paul and I tried to give her the bottle and she would not have it. We tried for over an hour, and finally it got close to her bedtime. So we packed her up and drove her home. I fed her and tried to put her to sleep, but she decided that it was not her bedtime. So Paul spent an hour trying to calm her down. Man oh man! Makes me wonder how it will be once I’m back at work and she is in daycare.

But hey, we did get an evening out and that was pretty refreshing! Thanks to AK UD Katie and Kristen!
