Look! Two Toshi’s!

Las Vegas was lots of fun and lots of work. Luckily, I had a ton of relatives that were willing to share the work load. And since Toshi Anne got to meet her great grandma, it was well worth it.

My second cousin Frank was kind enough to assist us on the plane. I don’t know how anyone can travel with a baby by themselves… There was lots to juggle: luggage, blankets, stroller, car seat and baby! Luckily everything went relatively smoothly. The worst part on both the flights was waiting for everyone to board and then waiting for the plane to take off. In both instances, we had to wait for a line of planes to take off before us. Baby Toshi was getting so frustrated that I wasn’t feeding her right away. They say to feed the baby as you take off so their ears will pop. So I was trying to time it just right, but both planes took off later than I planned. Instead, I offered her my arm and she gave me a nice hickey on my bicep. Whatever works, right?

My parents and grandma were waiting for us at the Vegas airport. We strolled up to my grandma while she was playing the slots (in the airport) and immediately got reprimanded by the gambling regulator lady. No babies or children near the machines! (Did she look at me when she said children?)

This trip I tried to dress Toshi in real outfits. She wore this outfit (from Grandma Lynn and Grandpa Mike) for a little bit, but then I started to think the pants were too tight on her big belly. (We like this blurry picture because it looks like she is skipping.) And then Auntie Haru said that she used to just dress her kids in pajamas all the time. Aha! That is what I normally do. I thought I was the only one.

In addition to Grandma Toshi, Baby Toshi got to meet Aunt Janet and Jim, Auntie Haru, Auntie Yetsu, Uncle Sumi and Auntie Kiyo-Anne, Auntie Aiko and Uncle Bob, Sherry and Charlie, Linda and Gary and Kevin, and Roger and Grace. Plus she spent time with Grandpa Irland, Grandma Kathy, and Frankie. Lots of people! She seemed to enjoy talking in the car to anyone that would listen. She is so cute when she talks. She woke me up at 4 in the morning with her talking cry and it made me smile (even though I pretended not to hear it).

I didn’t gamble at all. Instead, my wonderful parents took me and Toshi shopping! I went wild and tried to get as much as possible. Before I left for Vegas, I tried on my biggest clothes and found out that they are embarrassingly tight. So my goal for the trip was to find some non-maternity clothes that I can wear to work. I found some! And I got a purse that I have had my eye on for over two years. Success! Toshi was very good on the shopping trips. She slept most of the time. Plus it was just beautiful, perfect weather. Sunny and warm enough for no jackets.

It was really nice to see everyone. I’m glad Toshi Anne had a chance to meet some of her special relatives. I wish I would have taken more pictures. Hopefully my mom took lots…

And now we are home. We gave Toshi a bath and I am in the process of washing all of her clothes. I can’t believe how smoky everything smells! Ew. It is so nice to be back at home with all of our own stuff. I have never been so happy to be back… or home has never felt so home-y. I’m finally back with my boppy pillow! And Paul of course! 😉
