Kiss me, I’m Irish!
Posted by kara
I wanted to find Toshi a little outfit that said “Kiss me, I’m Irish!” but I couldn’t find a cute one. Maybe next year.
I tried to make our Irish dinner tonight since I knew I wouldn’t have enough time tomorrow. I made an Irish stew with Guinness in it and a super easy soda bread. I think the meal was pretty good for my first attempt. The soda bread was right up my alley… but I think I gained a pound just eating it. Also, I had to serve our Irish meal in Japanese bowls, which Paul thought was fitting.
It was a pretty good weekend. I tried to rest as much as possible, which meant that Paul entertained Toshiko the whole weekend. He made up a couple of fun games. One was bouncing Toshi near the hippo magnet on the fridge and saying, “Hippo!” She seemed to like that. Another was playing the guitar and shaking her playmat gym with his foot to the beat of the song. Here is a pic, but it doesn’t do it justice.
Of course, there are some things that we do mainly for our own amusement. I put her in cute Baby Legs that Grandma Kathy gave her. They are basically leg warmers so she can wear just a onesie. I found out about Baby Legs from my friend Laura. She knows way more about baby stuff than I do. Paul said they are too tight on Toshi and give her little muffin tops.
Paul also tucked Toshi into bed. For some reason we think this is hilarious. It must be because we are so used to her sleeping in her sparse crib, that when we see her in a grown up bed with blankets, it’s funny… right?
Okay, maybe we need to get out more. And one last amusement: hoodies with ears! I love hats/hoodies with ears. I thought she looked pretty cute in her pink outfit. That is the one nice thing about baby pink– all of it matches each other.
Toshi Anne is now 4 months old. I am so happy she has reached this age. She is usually pretty good and happy. She is starting to bring things to her mouth and has massive drool. She is also screaming often. Not crazy loud screaming, but shrieking. It’s kind of funny. And did I already say that she rolled over? I don’t think I posted that. She was on her back and arching to get away from the bulb syringe (booger-sucker) and slowly rolled over. She just put her head to the side and stayed on her stomach. She hasn’t really tried rolling from stomach to back. So I rolled her back to suck out more boogers, and she rolled again! I haven’t been able to recreate the roll, but now we have to be more careful.
I think that is all the excitement here. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
