A taste of rice cereal
Posted by kara
Last Sunday, I gave Toshi her first taste of rice cereal. The moment the spoon went into her mouth, she looked both confused and disgusted. I remember reading about my cousin feeding baby Liam and how she said it was so messy. I also remember thinking that it was just the ultra-clean side of her being a bit crazy and that yeah, feeding babies is messy, but not too bad. And then I fed Toshi. It wasn’t so much the food dripping down her chin, as it was her grabbing the food/spoon with her hand and mashing her hand on her face, on the Bumbo, on her clothes… Yeah, it was messy. But I think the reason why it feels so crazy messy is because I can’t control the mess. Now Toshi is this little force that does what she wants to do. She has hands, and she knows how to use them! And if you are wondering: we do have a highchair… we are just waiting until after the visitors come. One less thing for us to trip over.
Anyway, here are some pics of the feeding. I thought the one of me looking like a contortionist was pretty nice. And about halfway into the feeding, Toshi was trying to rip off her bib. I guess she had enough.
