OH/IN trip (1/2)

Posted by kara

We spent a week in Ohio and Indiana. When we got home on Sunday, it felt like a big relief. Our apartment never felt so welcoming… and so small! I got used to all of the spacious homes we stayed in! And I think Toshi got used to being held all the time. Today she gets fussy anytime I put her down or walk a foot away from her. I bet she is looking forward to her visits with her Aunt Jamus/SF crew and her grandparents (plus Moe) coming up. August will be busy!

Anyway, I’m going to try to do a recap… but I know it will be in 2 posts.

The flight out was not bad. She was a little restless, but it was nothing that a little bit of Papa time couldn’t fix. Still, after 4 hours, we were all ready to get off that plane. Then we had an hour drive to my parents house. Toshi was a champ though!

The Ohio baptism day was crazy. We were immediately thrown off schedule. We existed somewhere between Eastern and Pacific time, with a bit of crazy thrown in. Toshi met her cousin Liam and immediately took to him. He warmed up a little, but wasn’t as excited as she was. I stole these pics from my cousin.

I got to meet cute Miles and see how much Avery, Ryan, and Matthew have grown. It’s always a little weird to see little kids run around, when the last time you saw them, they were little chubby babies. Anyway, it was so wonderful to be surrounded by my family. With our busy schedules and faraway homes, it’s not often we all get together. It made my day to have Toshi meet everyone.

Plus it was Molly’s birthday! I was so grateful that she spent her special day with us. David and Molly are moving to California for a year, so hopefully that’ll make it easier to see them.

The rest of the time in Toledo was fairly relaxing. Toshi spent quality time with her Great Grandma Toshi. I think she enjoyed her buggy rides the most! Great Grandma Toshi looked so radiant and healthy. It was nice to spend time with her. My mom’s friends also stopped by to meet Toshi. I swear, my mom has some really sweet friends.  We also did a lot of eating… KotoBuki, bagels, nuts, cakes, breads, etc.

Next stop: Cincinnati. We got to Jamie’s house around 5pm on Wednesday. Toshi promptly gave Jamus an arm hickey. Then Jamie’s mom, grandma, and sister came over.

Ariana and Matt also came over.

Paul’s friend Matt also stopped by. It was good to see him and hear tales of his TV aquarium. It was fun to hang out for a bit and everyone left with some pop that Jamus was pushing.

Toshi was in good spirits so far. She started getting slightly fussy once we hit Cincy, but still pretty good considering the performance pressure she was under. We left Cincinnati early on Thursday morning and arrived in Indy by 9:30am…

More to come!
