First tooth

Posted by kara

Early this weekend, Toshi chomped down on my arm and it felt like a tooth was coming in. The next day, she bit down on my hand and left a tooth indent on my palm! I couldn’t believe it, so I showed it to Paul. He thought it was pretty crazy too. (Unless he was just humoring me.) I am so excited and happy about this tooth, but I don’t even know why. It just means that we’ll have to remember to wipe out her mouth before we put her down. Maybe I’m happy because I’m hoping that it means we are closer to the pain going away for her. I can see the tooth, but it still looks flush with her gums. I’m guessing that we won’t get a good picture of it for a couple more weeks.

This weekend has been fabulously long. Paul’s work had Friday off, so we headed to Rattlesnake Ledge. My coworker Laura had assured me that it was an easy and beautiful hike. Well, I hadn’t been on a hike for quite some time, and I was a bit out of shape. It probably was an easy hike, but it didn’t feel easy when we were going up the never ending path. I blamed it on the backpack I was carrying. Afterall, it had 2 bottles of water (which in my mind was almost as heavy as Toshi), all of Toshi’s snacks, toys, changes of clothes, diapers, and our jackets for when we got to the top. But then Paul took the backpack, saying it would help him balance out the weight of carrying Toshi in the front pack. Yup, he is quite the hero. And somehow, I was still slower than him. We made it up about 10 minutes past this lookout point. Then turned around, unsure if Toshi was actually enjoying the hike, or getting uncomfortable in the front pack. It was still great to get out and we realized that it would be a lot easier with a baby backpack made for hiking.

Toshi is totally digging the peek-a-boo game. It’s so funny to see her hold up something to hide her face and then look so pleased when she reappears.

I think her favorite is the couch pillows. When she holds the pillow to cover her face, you see her little hands and her feet poking out.

Okay, I’ve got to get back to my weekend. It’s hard to believe that there is still another day of Paul-at-home!
