Toshi’s first birthday party
Posted by kara
Toshi had her first birthday party at UB’s house this past Sunday. As some of my old coworkers may know, I’ve been looking forward to this party since she was 4 months old. I remember talking about how I was going to make a special cake for Toshi that wasn’t too much sugar and Nick made fun of me for planning something that was 8 months away. I guess I’ve always liked throwing kid parties, even since I was a kid. (Gret and I would try to throw parties for my little brother– not sure if he liked them.) Planning the food was a lot more work than I thought it would be, but luckily, we had a ton of help from my parents, UB, UP, and AK. Once I got to UB’s it felt like the party threw itself. Probably because the cooks took over. It was a great time and now I see how there can be so many leftovers… I thought we were really really underestimating the food, but there was a disgusting amount of uneaten mexican food at the end of the day. At least it was all delicious!
Toshi had a good time. She liked playing with everyone and really enjoyed the birthday song. She wasn’t too crazy about the cupcake. In fact, we had to end up feeding it to her! And I think she will like the time capsule we are putting together for her. So far there are lots of neat entries. We all wonder how much things will change by the time she opens it up (when she turns 18). Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate her birthday! Toshi loves all her new toys and books she got in the mail from her aunties and uncles. Thanks so much!
Here is a video of her slowly eating some of her birthday cake. It’s not too thrilling, but I thought Grandma Lynn would like to watch!
