Christmas, New Years, and Cable
Posted by kara
I feel like I skipped over a bunch of stuff… like our whole trip. Here is the short version:
1. Arrived in Detroit on Christmas Eve. Drove to Toledo where everyone was waiting for us.
2. Drove to Indy on Christmas, and spent the rest of the day watching the kids run around, admiring our new niece, eating, and enjoying being with everyone again. Toshi wasn’t phased by any of the hullabaloo and she had fun seeing the kids and eating Aunt Sarah’s Christmas Pie.
3. Hung out at Aunt Joan and Uncle Steve’s. There I rekindled my love of HGTV and found a show called Property Virgins that I thought was pretty funny. Maybe it was just Paul and Moe cracking jokes, but it was a good time.
4. We drove to Toledo and had a very un-New Year’s Eve… I think I went to bed at like 10, and we didn’t even watch any of the NYE show. But I did what I wanted to do: watched a little more HGTV.
5. New Year’s Day was great. My grandma Toshi made a bunch of Japanese food. She taught me how to do the tempura. I was pretty fidgety around the hot oil, but she didn’t give it a second thought. It was great to have her food again– I missed it. One of my most favorite things of my life was eating ozoni soup with mochi at her house when we were little. Mmmm.
6. There was a big bout of Animal Crossing over the weekend. My little bro put in a lot of hours to upgrade the house and get all the fruit trees planted. And we’ve had my older brother over to our town a couple of times. I think he was impressed with the progress.
7. Toshi and I have just been hanging out. She is having a ball opening up all the cupboards and unfortunately, she has discovered toilets. We may need to get one of those toilet lid locks because she looooves playing with water. This morning she was playing ball with my grandma Toshi. It was cute because my grandma had given her a grapefruit to throw. I wish I had the camcorder!
