You know, kid stuff

So it’s happening! I’ve always looked forward to the stage where kids say funny/cute things.

The latest: Toshi drew on our cheap Ikea tables with her washable crayons. (I was cooking dinner.) I got to a stopping point for dinner and we decided to play “magic.” We each had a magic wand (drumstick) and we practiced saying, “Abracadabra.” She kept saying it, “The abra the abra.” Anyway, back to the crayon tables. I waved my wand and said, “Let’s clean these tables with magic. Abracadabra!” Nothing happened. So then Toshi tried. “The abra the abra.” Nothing. She looked at me with her serious face and said, “Wands need new batteries?” I didn’t even know she knew what batteries were! That is what makes this stuff so funny to me. It is such a surprise when she just picks up on stuff. So the story ends with me getting a wet towel and waving my wand, saying the magic word, and then frantically scrubbing to make it look like the crayon magically disappears.
