My ol’ husband

We celebrated Paul’s birthday this weekend… or we tried. It’s fun celebrating birthdays with Toshi. She loves planning them. She picked out purple streamers and decided the cake should be purple and pink. And of course, we had to use Thomas plates. She also told me what to write on the cake: “Happy Bobby Birthday 7 B.” I pushed for writing “dad” on the cake.
And I got Paul some pb cup ice cream. Mmm!
We also had ideas about going on a short day trip. We wanted to go to the Dungeness Spit, but we thought it would be pushing it with the ferry ride and Toshi’s nap. Plus we got a late start. So we tried to go to a park… We got turned around a few times (I blame signage), and finally got to the park “entrance”… It really wasn’t an entrance. It just said no cars beyond this point. As I looked down the gravel road leading to what looked like nothing, I knew I didn’t want to go any farther. So we turned around and went to a small park (more like a path along the water) we passed. It was a nice walk. Then Paul and Toshi threw rocks into the water. Toshi kept picking up the biggest rocks and handing them to Paul.
That night my brother came over. He made a delicious dinner and then we played a board game that he got for Paul. It was long, but not too bad. I just don’t like learning all those strategy games.
Anyway, now I have an old husband! Yes, he’s still a tad younger than me, but now we’re both old. Our twenties were fun and full of big events. Now I feel like we’ll get to enjoy the ripples from those big events. I’m excited to see where our life leads to because I get to share it with Paul – the best person ever.
And because this is what everyone really wants to see (and yes, Ariana, this is what our house really looks like so be prepared):
