A Good Day

Posted by kara

Today my aunt & cousins (and a friend) came over to play with Toshi. Toshi loved all of the active play… much more fun than the sedentary activities I try to encourage (reading books, coloring, playdoh). I got to rest and relax. Sooooo nice.

I’m also pretty much done with freelance. I just have to send a couple of files out and the invoice! What a nice way to end June!

Today I looked at the calendar and in the next couple of weeks, there are 2 birthdays, 2 anniversaries, and a wedding happening in my friends’ lives. Plus, of course, a birth day somewhere in there. So much happiness!

Toshi was so excited to make a splashy puddle today. Instead of watering the plants, she likes to make a puddle with her water and splash in it. She kept screaming, “Splashy puddle!” as we were getting ready. Then she asked me to come closer so she could talk to the baby. She patted my belly nicely and said softly, “Sister, I want to tell you something…. SPLASHY PUDDLE!” The timing was really good.

I heard these phrases come out of Toshi’s mouth for the first time: “Run for your life!” [The ant was going to get us.] “Take it easy!” [She wanted me to stop filling up the watering can.]

Today I also figured out that I can play with Toshi by just watching her from the couch. This is an awesome discovery for me and gives me lots of hope for “playing” with Toshi while taking care of the newborn. When her interest in reading books waned, I asked her if she would do a ballet performance for me. She did some wonderful dance moves and I clapped after each one. Then she added one of her blocks as a prop. It looked very ballet-ish as she held it up in the air and did a leg-lift. The performance quickly changed into building a domino-type chain of blocks. After knocking down the blocks, she built a submarine, of course. I hope she’ll keep doing ballet for me… or something that allows me to be on the couch… heh.

That’s all for now. Sorry no pics… gotta take real ones soon.
