Marfy

Big sister loves Marfy! Today I tried to get some pics of Marf and me. Toshi heard the beeping sound of Photobooth and said, “Hey! What are you doing?” (She said that as I was taking this second photo and it made me laugh.) She came over to be included in the photo shoot.
It’s getting harder to get things done. Martha isn’t sleeping in her chairs as much… I think her acid reflux is irritated by those chairs. And forget about putting her on her back! That is just asking for instant spit up and crying. I find myself holding her (like now) and usually walking the circular floor plan until she is asleep enough so I can sit down and give my back a break. I did get her to be in the carrier for about half an hour yesterday. Just enough time to change the laundry, water the plants with Toshi, wipe Toshi’s muddy feet off, and make about 30% of dinner.
I like smelling my baby. I hope Anita agrees with this so I don’t sound crazy.
So, staying at home all day is hard, but not too hard. It’s a bunch of factors and I know the factors will slowly get better. Factor #1 is not getting enough sleep. I’m so tired and dizzy all the time. And that makes it hard to deal with Factor #2: Toshi being a toddler. Toshi talks a lot and gets in my face and repeats something over and over until I figure out what it is she wants me to say. She also sometimes gets whiny/demand-y/fake cry-y. And when she doesn’t listen to me, it’s impossible. I can’t wrangle with her anymore and I can’t give her my full attention. And Factor #3: Martha needs constant attention. I’m looking forward to the day when I can put her under her play gym and Toshi can wave a rattle at her. Or when an exersaucer will entertain her for a few minutes. I feel like I’m running around, trying to get little things done here and there when I have a free moment. I have a list of things to do (so I don’t waste time trying to remember what I need to do) and they are stupidly simple things like throw away the fat jar, write a thank you note, drop off library books…etc. That is my life right now! Sometimes, though, if I’m holding the baby, I just remember that most things don’t REALLY need to be done. And it’s okay if I just sit and hold the baby. And that is why, Paul, the house is still a mess when you get home and dinner is only 30% done. Someday it might be better! I kinda promise!
