So, yeah. I’m totally one of those mothers that thinks her kid is the greatest thing on earth. I imagined that Toshi would be pretty popular because she’s so funny, smart, beautiful, easy going and fun. What I didn’t anticipate was being worried over whether or not she would be liked in preschool. I enrolled her in preschool primarily so she could have fun playing with kids. However, these are the stories that Toshi tells about her school:

One guy wouldn’t share the steering wheel, so I told him to share and then we were fighting like this! *punches and shoves the air*

I was trying to tell the kids to share the steering wheel and take turns, but no one listened.

I set up traffic blocks and then those guys were kicking them down. Why were they kicking them down?

They kept calling me a spider. No they called me a ghost and ran away from me. They kept running from me.

Hmmmmm… I can’t help but feel like they are trying to keep away from her or something. I wish she would tell me a story about how she played kitchen with someone or had a tea party or something socially cooperative. I know she tends to exaggerate (she didn’t really fight with the kid, but he did push her once), so I’m hoping these stories aren’t as bad as they sound. Paul says the kids are probably all doing their own thing. I wish I could watch them play and interact… I trust that the teacher wouldn’t let the kids antagonize Toshi, but I want her to make friends. This is worse than me living through all that kid-popularity-drama. My kid is awesome and everyone should want to be her friend. Yeah, I’m her mom, but it’s really true in her case!
