Potato potato potato

At school, Toshi learned to play hot potato. She loves it, especially when she doesn’t get “out.” Coincidentally, Paul made a hot potato game for his iPhone, so sometimes we play that. She passes you the phone and says, “You lose!” and refuses to take the phone from you. And for some reason, she pretends the arm rest on our couch is a horse. So she sits on it and says, “Potato potato potato potato…” We ask if she means, “Giddy up!” but she says no.

Toshi also caught a cold (probably from school?) and has been waking up at night from coughing or being too stuffed up to breathe. And I’m beginning to think that it’s pointless to try to prevent Toshi from passing colds to Martha/Paul/me. So now Martha has the cold and is pretty miserable, especially at night and in the morning. We’re hoping she improves before we fly!

Martha is growing fast! She seems pretty long to me. And her elephant grunts are being replaced by vocal gurgles. She loves talking to us, and Toshi can always make her smile by hyperly saying, “Hiiiiii Marfa! Hiiiiiiii Marfa!” It’s so cute when Toshi entertains Marfy. She reads her books and plays her music box carousel. I can’t wait for when Martha can play more with Toshi.

And I think I hear the word “Mom” even more than the word “Why” which is saying a lot. It’s like that Family Guy where Stewie keeps saying “Mom” over and over. Even if I respond, she still keeps saying, “Mom” because she hasn’t decided what she wants to say yet. Oh but she cracks me up so much! Right now she is playing piggies on Martha’s toes. Martha is sleeping right through it.
