Give me a bow
Posted by kara
When Toshi likes something that I cook/bake, she says, “Give me a bow! Give me a bow!” It always makes me laugh and feel good. Today she said it after trying the banana bread I made. (And it didn’t even have chocolate chips in it!)
She also told her preschool teacher that she wants to be a baker when she grows up and make apple pies. Sounds good to me! So we started off her career with a nice easy apple crisp today. She did a great job! Mmmmm…
Both the girls have been a little on edge with Paul being gone for 5 days. I am hoping that they will be back to normal now that he is back. We all missed him so much! Luckily, we had tons of help from Aunt Karen, my brother, UB, and Mandy. It was so nice having their company and help. I know their visits kept Toshi in good spirits and kept our kitchen full of food! I didn’t cook once…
Marf is 8 months old now. She is really strong and good at grabbing things and shaking/throwing them. Hence, the wrecking ball. Paul called her that once and I thought it was clever. Hopefully this nickname will die off before she understands it (but we keep calling her it). She is NOT sleeping through the night. I’m a little bitter about this. I feel that she should be sleeping 11 hours solid. Or if she wants to wake up one time, that would be okay. Right now she is waking up twice. Meh. Her eyes still aren’t completely brown, and I’m hoping they stay this color. They are a mix of gray, blue, brown. Pretty cool. She isn’t crawling yet (thank goodness), but she wants to. She’ll reach and reach for toys and slowly get closer to them.
Today I realized that Toshi is at a good helping age. She can really do helpful things and more importantly, she WANTS to help. She’ll bring me stuff, turn on lights, entertain Martha, stir stuff for cooking, put on her clothes and sometimes pick up her toys. (Those last two require some persuasion.) Not sure how long this phase of wanting to help will last, so I’m trying not to take it for granted.
Here are some pics Toshi took.
Her Sarah and Eoin!
Me and Marf.
And this is a drawing she did. I thought it was a nice family portrait. And it kind of is… only this is what she told me: It’s Toshi, Daddy, Mommy, Uncle Paul, clouds, the sun, and Marf in an alien spaceship. (Not sure if I should read into that…)
