Step right up!

Toshi enjoys showing off her little sister. She will tell people that she has a “new baby” named Martha. (She used to introduce her as wrecking ball, but I think that phase has passed.) She loves giving Martha little pats on the head or face.

The other day, Martha and I were picking up Toshi from preschool. Toshi was getting her coat on, when another friend came into the room. I think it was Jane. While touching Marf gently on the cheek, Toshi says to Jane, “Do you want to touch the baby?” Jane touched Marf on the cheek and then followed her mom out the door.

Luckily Martha doesn’t care when Toshi offers her up for petting. (Yes, she’s done it before.) Sometimes I think Toshi thinks Martha is her own little pet. I’m sure I used to think of my brother as a pet too – sort of in charge, but not really. Oh, sisters. It’s neat to see your kids love each other.
