Reality Check
Posted by kara
I would say our pediatrician is really laid back. I feel like he is almost trying to drain any kind of alarm/fear/worry out of my head when we visit. I thought that I was always pretty laid back, only bringing in the girls when something was actually wrong with them. However, lately it seems I keep showing up at the doctors with symptoms that have vanished between the time of making the appointment and the time we actually SEE the doctor. So I am describing symptoms and when I say them aloud in the office, it feels like I’m answering my own question. (I think Toshi might be developing some seasonal allergies, along with the new found motion sickness. But I think the motion sickness is mainly on the plane, even though she thinks it’s in the car too. Anyway, check out her swollen eye.)
I think I’m finally figuring out that I’m not such a laid back parent. I’m laid back to a point, and hyper to a point. I’ll sit at home, look up Toshi’s symptoms and think she has some kind of blocked intestine, when actually she probably has a nervous stomach and allergies. My point is that I might be a “little” bit of a worrier. I’m definitely a little less worried than I was 4 years ago (as if that is saying much), but there is always that voice in my head saying, “But what if it’s serious?! WebMD says it’s cancer! BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!” And I call the doctor.
